Pancho Campo – A HALO jump for a good cause
Pancho Campo is a skydiver, scuba diver, former Olympic tennis player and president of the Future Planet Foundation, which fights climate change.
Today we’ll tell you why it’s worth remembering this man and keeping the days around August 13-15 in mind.
We met Pancho Campo at the European Skydiving Symposium in Warsaw, where he was a speaker analyzing the impact of climate change on skydiving, the carbon footprint of our sport and its environmental impact. Through an impressive audiovisual presentation, he presented the strategies used in different parts of the world to reduce the CO2 impact of skydiving.
Now he is embarking on a new, exciting adventure – a HALO jump from 25,000 feet or 7.6 kilometers.
Join Pancho Campo, an adventurer and skydiver, on his breathtaking journey into the air.
In this article you will learn all about his HALO jump, his goals and the exciting course of his program.
The main objective of this jump is to raise awareness about the importance of confronting fears, managing stress, and combating bullying, especially among youngsters.
Pancho plans to produce a documentary on these topics, using his HALO jump as the backbone.
The proceeds from the documentary will go towards supporting the Planet Future Foundation. But that’s not the only goal. Pancho will also become the first civilian Spaniard to jump alone from such a high altitude.
Pancho Campo will jump from a height of 25,000 feet or 7.6 kilometers within the Dropzone Denmark’s HALO Boogie (August 14-18). Truly a breathtaking starting point! During the free fall, he will reach speeds of approximately 400 km/h. However, this jump also carries risks. Pancho must cope with hypoxia, a low oxygen level in the blood, which could result in fainting. He also has to face the extreme temperatures that range between -30 and -40°C at that altitude.
Quite a lot, even for such an experienced athlete.
On August 13th, Pancho Campo will travel to Dropzone Denmark, accompanied by his camera crew and his son, who is also his personal trainer.
The plan is to capture footage of his mental preparation before the jump, the oxygen training he will undergo with Halo2, the preparatory jumps to familiarize himself with the drop zone, interviews with halo operators and people from the drop zone, and last but not least, the day of the jump, including all the preparations before boarding the plane, inside the aircraft, during free fall, landing, and his comments after the jump.
And now comes the best part:
You can be there live!
Because Pancho will also be streaming this adventure live on his instagram account.
So make sure you follow him and don’t miss this adventure, this thrill!
We’re sure there’s a lot for everyone to learn.
Whether it’s about HALO skydiving or strategies for courage, willpower and drive.
